Course: Electronic Digital Circuits (DSEL)

This lecture, read in the summer semester, covers digital circuits and techniques using integrated digital standard components. The design and operation of a wide variety of digital circuits are presented by way of example, with particular emphasis on explaining circuit concepts and characteristics from the user's perspective.

Contents

Starting point of this lecture is a technical system realization with integrated standard components. To understand the functionality, these integrated components are then disassembled into their components. Furthermore, implementations of special tasks by interconnecting integrated standard components are presented. By the end of the course, students should be familiar with the analysis and design of simple digital circuits using standard integrated digital components and programmable logic devices, and should have developed an understanding of more complex circuits. The structure of the course is as follows:

1. Introduction
2. Basic logic circuits
3. Code converters and multiplexers
4. Flip-flop circuits
5. Counters and frequency dividers

6. Semiconductor memories
7. Applications of ROMs
8. Programmable logic circuits
9. Basic arithmetic circuits
10. A/D and D/A converters

Exam

Written exam, 90 min.
Please pay attention to the exam announcement in the StudIP course.
